Feet of a Deer

I was reading my devotional today in Jesus Calling and it shared about God making our feet like the feet of a deer. I've been skipping my devotionals lately because I feel like I am just starting to settle in to our lives here in Spokane, and reading a devotional everyday is not something that I naturally think of to do. Instead I job search, catch up on t.v. shows on hulu, and try to organize our new apt (even though we still don't have a couch, kitchen table, or a dresser to put all of our clothes in). This is the time of my life where doing my devotional and spend quality time with God should be a priority. I am in a new place, in a new season of my life and I need God more than ever... to calm me, remind me why we moved, and trust him with the rest of this day and the days to come. I do a lot of worrying now since my husband is at work from 8:30 to 6 Monday through Friday... I have a lot of free time on my hands, which allows my mind to wonder and worry about the future. But, this morning, while my dog was restless wondering where Mike is, I decided to stay outside with her and read todays devotional.

After I read the passages, I sat down at my computer and started editing the wedding photos from this past weekend. So I go to the very beginning of the pictures and realize I still had the pictures my husband and I took on the road on the way to the wedding in Salem. While we were driving to Salem, we pulled over by the trees. Its my favorite place between Portland and Spokane. Its where trees are grown specifically to be cut down for paper, lumber, etc. which, it kinda sad, but they are beautiful and they go on for miles and miles. And they are all in perfect rows. I am in awe of them. And while we were driving out of all the trees, we spot a deer... and my husband instantly gets out of the car with my camera to capture it. These pictures are the results.

Fitting that I saw this picture the same day I read my devotional about my feet being like the feet of a deer.

God is kinda awesome like that.

Enjoy the pictures that my talented husband took and don't forget to read the devotional below the pictures. It better explains why God gives us feet like a deer:)

"When things seem to be going all wrong, stop and affirm your trust in Me. Calmly bring these matters to Me, and leave them in My capable hands. Then, simply do the next thing. Stay in touch with Me through thankful, trusting prayers, resting in My sovereign control. Rejoice in Me- exult in the God of your salvation! As you trust in Me, I make your feet like the feet of a deer. I enable you to walk and make progress upon your high places of trouble, suffering, or responsibility."   Sarah Young, Jesus Calling
